Other than the assault rifle, it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

So Friday afternoon around four, the kids called me out of my bedroom (where I was folding clothes) with the cry, "Mommy, the police are outside."

Turns out, they were putting it mildly. It was the police...and the sheriff...and the K-9 unit.

So I call the police. I say, "Ummm, yes, ummm, my street is surrounded by police, and there's an officer with an assault rifle in the intersection."
"Yes ma'am. They're looking for someone. I'd just stay inside and lock your doors."

You think??????

Really, that's all I was getting out of them. But here's what it looked like out my window. The pictures aren't great as I didn't want to make a spectacle of myself with a rifle 20 feet away.

This is literally outside my front window.

This is the street in front of my house. The end of the street was blocked off too.

Here's the K-9. They searched several backyards, and the woods behind the green house. And then just as suddenly they left. Without ever catching the person they were looking for. I thought they were supposed to reverse 9-1-1 us to let us know about stuff like this. What if my kis had been outside playing???? Interestingly enough, the Sheriff's log for that day shows NOTHING happening during a four hour period for that afternoon-including the time this took place. Hummmm. I wonder if I'll ever know what that was all about?

can you elaborate??????????????

I woke up yesterday to 3 cop cars at my neighbors house, and then they came back an hour later..hmm.. We looked like a scene all the neighbors in the cul de sac going out to "check" for our paper and chat it up a bit, craning our necks to get a glimpse of the neighbors house.

Is it a crime wave??

Ok, I have to say as a homeschooler who knows you are a perfectionist, why did you misspell assault? Hmm.. has one of your children hijacked your blog??

Is this an attempt to put out teasers to get a lot of comments?

Do we need to talk about word verification again?????

as I type "consabo"

You know more people comment when they don't have to type rafobartiriqafart

I agree with Leisa! But really....a rifle?

I agree with Leisa...I hate the word verification.

I spend my energy trying to figure out how the word would be pronounced phonetically. Is that strange?

OK, the next word was

I had to laugh at that one.

I was going to say that too: You should get a few more comments and readers with a post like this [smile].

Glad everyone was safe. Too bad they didn't catch the person... hopefully that's why they all left: "Sarge, we've got 'em."

"All right, men. Let's pack it up!"

I hit "enter" after I typed the title, meaning to go to the body to type the post...but it POSTED just the title to my blog instead. I immediately started editing it, but then the hubs got on my computer for some multi-hour project and so I guess it worked as an unintentional teaser, LOL.

And yes Leisa, I know "assault" was misspelled...I always check everything AFTER I finish the whole post...but since the title posted first, I didn't have that luxury :-).

I was going to say WOW 10 comments (I still only get 1 or 2 per post), Leisa, you need to multi-comment some of mine to make me look more likeable.

I love Crispy's verification word...but I agree in general I hate word verification!!!

I've had Cris's verification word before! So they aren't that original!

Come live in our neighborhood! The worse thing the cops are called for is parking in front of the neighbor's house or taking stuff from their trash pile. Now the pedophile on the street over might be cause for some concern. Hmmm.
