So basically...

my husband lost his job today. It's happened so many times over the past few years, I'm getting used to it :-). Actually, he'd totally beg to differ with me about the "losing his job" thing. In essence, he still has a job...they just can't pay him for it. Or they can't pay him any money. They have offered to keep our health insurance benefits, which for a family of 6 is a sizable thing, but we will have $0 cash coming in from them...and that was half his salary. Luckily he works for himself for the rest of his salary, so hopefully we won't be too bad off, but of course we did just have to buy a new car when his died a thousand deaths in one week (and cost us over $750 doing it). Yep, having to replace an engine AND a transmission on a car with 150,000 just wasn't practical.
But I digress. Back to the job thing. I'm tempted to have them pay us the cash and drop the health insurance. The cruel irony there is that our deductible is fully met thanks to my procedure, and we have $3000 in medical bills that we have to pay out of our pocket for that, so with our luck if I canceled the health insurance something really bad would happen.
So I'm trusting God, who has always met our needs before. I know He will continue to do so...but it looks like the belts will be tightening around here. I think we are definitely DRIVING to NY for the reunion this summer. And camping on the way to avoid the ridiculous cost of the two hotel rooms we have to get for our family.
Okay, sorry, I'm NOT really whining. It's funny that sometimes my blog posts come across that way when I'm really not a whiner or a worrier at all. I just want to share our news, good or bad, with all our friends and family at the same time, and the blog is the easiest way to do it.

Oh no! I was just checking the computer one more time before getting in bed. Sorry. It'll all work out, but what a pain!

I am so sorry. What a hard time to be out of work. Praying that he gets lots of work for his own business.

I'm so sorry. I'm thankful, however, that you have your health insurance. I'm praying that the Eric's business grows enough to replace the loss of income.

Lord, I ask that You will continue to provide for every need, and beyond. Thank You for the peace You have already given this family, and I ask that You will continue to surround them with family and friends who will encourage them. May this personal work bring in more than enough. Amen.

Praying for you! God has a way of taking care of his own! And you could always get one hotel room for the parents (to save your backs from the hard ground) and let the kiddos sleep in the car! :)
