Woo-Hoo-Hoo, and a bottle of...

(That's supposed to be sung to the tune of Yo-Ho-Ho, in case you didn't figure that out :-)). And the bottle? Well, I'll substitute 3 different medicines in place of the rum.
This morning, I dragged my wretched body out of bed at 5:15 for my 5:30 appt. with the Dr. Yes, my crazy, but wonderful, doctor opens his office at 5:30 AM.
The Woo-Hoo part comes from the fact that I've officially lost 25 pounds in 10 months!!!! Yea!
The bottles of pills? A new anti-inflammatory (in place of the 800mg of ibuprophen I take 3 times a day), a new nasal inhaler to hopefully take care of the lingering nasal issues that allergy shots aren't touching, and a month's worth of sample of an anti-heartburn med, since the prevailing thought is that the burning need to clear my throat every waking minute of the day for the past 3 years may be due to "silent" heartburn. I am desperate for any or all of them to work.
On the less encouraging side, I have been told if I ever want to sit still for more than 5 seconds without my tailbone killing me I need to humble myself and park my tookas (how do you spell that anyway???) on a granny do-nut for the next 6 MONTHS. Oh, and take it with me. Everywhere. He means ALL THE TIME. Like sleep on it even. Okay, I can sleep on it. It's the carrying it to the park, to church, to UIP, to TJ's basketball games...those are the places my ego is going to have to really take a back seat. I may be standing a lot...
Oh, and ironically, I got relief when I heard officially from him that I do indeed have a ganglion cyst in my left wrist. It's a relief because I have been saying for 3 years that there was something wrong. I could not bear any weight on my left wrist without pain, and that's not normal. At my last appt. 10 months ago, he even ordered an x-ray, but fluid filled sacks don't really show up on x-rays. The pain has gotten steadily worse over the past 10 months, and even now hurts while I type (and has started encroaching into the necessary things in life like driving, etc.) so it was time to revisit that. I'm thrilled that he was able to see it today, as now I have a referral for a hand specialist. The problem? I had the same thing 15 years ago in my right wrist, and I needed surgery, artificial bone, and 6 months of physical/occupational therapy because I form adhesions (I grow extra scar tissue below the skin and it sticks (adheres) to everything-especially what it's not supposed to stick to). Last time, when they removed the cast, my wrist was immobilized from the scar tissue, hence the 6 months of therapy to make it usable again. I've been researching online, and they can sometimes drain these cysts with a needle, but they are not as likely to stay gone that way. We'll see what the Dr. says.

I hate to air my dirty physical laundry online, but it's the best way to be sure everyone I know is up to date and I don't forget to tell someone. I'd welcome prayer (who wouldn't), especially that they might be able to drain the cyst with a needle and it would stay gone. Oh, and if you read this, you have to promise not to laugh if you see me with my granny do-nut :-).
In spite of all this, I know it always could be much, much worse, and I'm thankful that God has given me a wonderful Dr. who understands and is genuinely interested in helping me.

Wow, Amy! That weight loss is FANTASTIC!! I look forward to hearing how the new meds work out for you. Maybe us quilting ladies could quilt a beautiful cover for your granny do-nut. :) Wouldn't it be great though if after 6 months you were pain free!!!!!!!!

With the 17 kids running around and the webkins birthday party, I forgot to ask about the Dr appointment. I'm glad it was so productive. Everytime I've read the words "granny do nut" I've read it like "do" "nut" even though I know it is like doughnut!!!

The blogger above me is quite a hottie! I am glad you are on the road to recovery. I love Dr T, but man does he round EARLY at the hospital!! I would have to have his patients charts in order by 4am... As for the donut, well being a mom slowly chips away at whatever scraps of pride...use the donut, pain free is way better than looking pretty. I don't know why you park mommies sit on your tailbones anyway, maybe we can start a chair theme at the park, then noone would see the donut...

We could tell you looked great at the play! No wonder! Isn't it nice to see the "proof" though on the Doctor's scales? What's so special about their scales, anyway? My kids and I use the scales at a dedicated Publix. Only it's upsetting when their scales go bust!! Which keeps happening, by the way.
