My Uncle's house

My Uncle's house is an oasis. Really. Here's the view:

They live on a bluff overlooking not one, but two Finger Lakes. The view is stunning, and pictures don't do it justice. Just looking across the lake at the shadows cast on the hills from the clouds passing overhead is mesmerizing.

But the birds, their songs take your breath away. The hills are alive with the sound of music! The birds sing from sun up to sun down. It's like being treated to a free choral symphony every day.

My uncle's house sits on 5 acres complete with its own pond. The "boys" (count my husband in...and Sari and Mimi) caught 46 fish in 3 hours. Sari caught 14. By herself. Just by sitting on the bank with a pole and reeling it in when the bobber went under. Crazy. Below is a picture of the house taken from the other side of the pond. Their property extends beyond there, but is not mowed, so we don't go trekking that far :-). (The tent in the yard is for the family reunion)

We ate most meals outside, and sat outside whenever we could. I even napped in the hammock a few times. The kids played soccer in the yard and picked cherries from the tree. Sari REALLY enjoyed the cherries :-). (But those pictures are on daddy's computer. I'll have to work on that.)
